Since the dawn of mankind, the human race has been determined to achieve greatness. Whether
it’s exploring the oceans, mastering the sky in 1903 with the first man-powered aircraft, or
conquering space with the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. All examples of the greatness lying
within mankind. Breakthroughs in science, incredible demonstrations in determination and the
ability to go where nobody has gone before. People can achieve greatness in so many different
ways. Perhaps one of man’s greatest achievements is conquering the once untouched Mount
Everest. An enormous range, a 1,500 miles long.
Mount Everest. Over 60 million years old. 29,035 feet above sea level. Conquered in 1953 by
Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Once and untouched summit and a distant dream of
mankind, now, an over-used, over-populated tourist trap. What new dangers face the climbers
now that anybody can attempt the climb, for the right price?
